Every player is an individual and needs to be treated as such. They all have their own unique demands and skills and the training sessions and coaching styles used need to be adapted to meet the needs of each player. Practices should always be designed to be easily differentiated so all players at the session have the opportunity to develop, regardless of ability.
My coaching style is always to coach in a positive manner. Feedback to the player should always be positive, highlighting what the player did well first and giving them areas for improvement that they can work on. This helps to give the player something they can improve on, rather than a negative comment, which has no constructive benefit. Feedback will also be given to not only the team as a whole but also to each individual to increase each player’s development.
My expectation of my players is that they try to play the game in the right way, passing the ball and working as a team. If my team tries their hardest and plays to the best of their ability then regardless of the result I will be happy.
